Many thanks to Gloria and all those who makes these podcasts possible. This is just one example of what I'd like to achieve as supervisor in increasing two-way communications between your local government and the citizens. Be sure to VOTE both sides of your ballot on August 5th!

Dear Gloria,

I have listened to all three interviews for the Niles Township supervisor position that will be chosen on August 5 and appreciate your work and efforts in the broadcast.

I just wanted to make a comment on the police coverage for the Niles Township since I have lived in the township (northern area) for over 28 years (as well my parents and grandparents) To be very honest I am more than willing to pay for police coverage however, in the northern part of Niles township when we had the township police department I can tell you that we rarely saw them patrolling. I believe at least for the northern part of the township this is likely the reason many voted against having the department. We do see the Berrien county sheriff's officers much more often than we ever did the township.

As you might be aware the northern part of the township consist of a lot of farming land and those of us that live out here do want police coverage but we don't want to pay for something that is not going to happen. If the township could proof that they would change how things were done in the past I would probably change my mind.

I write this to you because during the three interviews you made the comments that you just could not believe that the township did not want a police force and I hope my comments have shed some light on the issue.
